Bulgargas invests to widen network

Bulgaria’s state gas monopoly Bulgargas will invest USD 44.5 million this year to expand its pipeline network in a bid to pump more Russian gas to Balkan neighbours. Bulgargas officials said the government has approved the company’s 2001 investment programme, which includes rehabilitation and expansion of compressor stations on the lines to Turkey, Greece and Macedonia. The 2001 plan is the last part of a three-year programme to widen the transiting pipeline system and envisages construction of a 46 km (28.5 miles) stretch.
