Braided catheters

Recent investment in improved manufacturing processes has enabled Kanthal Palm Coast, a Sandvik Materials Technology company, to enter the braided catheter market as a supplier of stainless-steel catheter braiding wire in both fine round wire sizes as well as ribbon wire and in a wide variety of Sandvik Bioline stainless grades. Incorporating the new production processes, Sandvik Materials Technology is now adding significant capacity at its Kanthal Palm Coast facility, to the catheter braiding wire market with a high-quality product in terms of cleanliness, spooling and product consistency. As a custom manufacturing house there is full control of product quality, made possible by totally integrated production from steel melt to the finished wire product. Key potential benefits of braiding catheters include control and maximisation of torque, kink and pressure resistance, stiffness and pushability.
Wire is available typically in dimensions 0.001″ thick x 0.003″ wide in stainless steel grade Sandvik Bioline Type 304V, in the tempered condition. Thicknesses down to 0.00075″ can be produced.
