BP enters wind turbine supply contract

BP Wind Energy has entered into a USD 750 million agreement with General Electric for the supply and maintenance of 350 wind turbines units in the US. When operational, the BP wind projects will have a combined power generation of 560MW. BP’s 144MW Mehoopany Wind Farm located in Pennsylvania will receive 88 turbine units, while the 419MW Flat Ridge 2 Wind Farm located in south-central Kansas will receive 262 units. Initial site construction work on both the projects is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2011, subject to all necessary approvals. Both projects are expected to be operational by 2012.
