The manual was compiled and authored by two materials experts at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. Firstly Marco Boniardi, who is Professor in Metallurgy and Materials Science at the Mechanical Department, and who has authored more than 100 scientific papers on metallurgy, mechanical behaviour of steels, failure analysis and forensic engineering. And secondly by Andrea Casaroli, who is a contract researcher in Metallurgy and Materials Science at the same department, and who is specialized in stainless steels, heat treatment and functional coatings.
Speaking during the launch, both authors paid special tribute to the tireless support and encouragement from the Lucefin Group, and in particular to Domenico Surpi, Vittorio Boneschi and Massimo Sperto, who all contributed to the editing. They also thanked Lucefin for taking care of publication and printing.
On behalf of Lucefin, Mr Boneschi noted that the stainless steel manual continues and enhances the technical series published by the Group in recent years and confirms its mission, namely to disseminate knowledge and share experiences. “The book also represents the Group’s commitment to this particular field and strengthens its business choice for Trafitec, the company devoted to the production of stainless steel bars,” he noted.
Digital copies of the stainless steel manual can be downloaded free of charge from the Lucefin Group website. Simply go to the Lucefin web-page on stainless steels and look under the “downloads” section. NB: At the time of writing only copies in Italian were available, English and German language versions should, however, be available very shortly.
