The team from Bohler Uddeholm UK based in Oldbury, West Midlands, recently accepted the SHD Logistics Award for Warehouse Efficiency, presented by leading comedian Mark Watson in front of 600 industry professionals. The event, which took place at Resorts World Birmingham, celebrated excellence in the logistics industry across eleven main categories. Bohler Uddeholm won for its commitment to Warehouse Efficiency Award sponsored by Hörmann UK.
Tom Gowans Managing Director, explains, âWe kicked off the demand-driven logistic project in April 2013, knowing that we would need to invest to realise our vision. Our group financial backing has allowed us to invest despite the challenging climate in key sectors. We had a choice, invest or stagnate, so we modernised. The new plant came on line first quarter on 2016.â? The new KASTO system is the tallest in the UK. With an average picking time of 6mins, orders can be picked and despatched the same day. Value-Added solutions give customers access to cutting, machining, bevelling, testing and other services providing turnkey customer solutions. This includes an onsite testing service, used when customers require additional certification to that supplied by the Mill.
