BASF is to increase the capacity of its polymer dispersion plant located in Cengkareng, Indonesia, from the current annual 50,000 metric tons to 95,000 metric tons. Design and engineering work has already commenced and completion is slated for early 2004. The total investment cost is estimated at about USD 10 million. BASF Indonesia currently produces both acrylic and carboxylated styrene butadiene dispersions in Cengkareng and the new capacity will allow for increased production of both polymer types. Polymer dispersions are the largest locally produced product line for BASF Indonesia and are widely used in the paper, paint, textile, adhesives and construction industries.
