The eighth China Charity Award selected Baosteel as the “2012 China Charity Award Most charitable enterprise”. This is the fifth time that Baosteel won the “China Charity Award” and the second time that it was rated “most charitable enterprise”. According to statistics, Baosteel donated a total of more than EUR 8M last year.
The China Charity Award is organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and is the highest government award in China’s philanthropy area. Its aim is to recognize individuals, institutions and projects that have made outstanding contributions to social and environmental concerns. It aims at vigorously promoting helping the poor, dedicating and paying back to the society and the spirit of charity such as demonstrating compassion for the people and helping the community.
Last year, Baosteel actively participated in public welfare, spread Baosteel public culture and solved social problems with positive and rational public service activities. For instance, it joined hand with Shanghai Elderly People Foundation and offered New Year’s gift to needy elderly in Shanghai. It planned and participated in various charity activities.
Over the years, Baosteel continues charity donation and has never stopped. More than EUR 12.5M have been invested in the last ten years under the Baosteel Tibet project that helps build local kindergartens and municipal roads, and supports farmers and herdsmen housing project and low-rent housing project. Baosteel has also been supporting four poor counties in Pu’er, Yunnan for the last four years. Baosteel has invested EUR 7.2 M in the last five years.
