Baosteel completes installation of VOD system at Fuzhou

Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the installation of a new vacuum oxygen decarburization (VOD) system at its Fuzhou plant.

The advanced VOD system, developed by SMS Group, is designed to enhance the plant’s ability to produce high-quality specialty steels through secondary metallurgical processes. With a total annual capacity of 417,000 metric tons, the new system improves the removal of carbon and other impurities from stainless steel, ensuring superior quality and efficiency.

This upgrade will enable Baosteel Desheng to meet the increasing demand for high-grade materials used in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and construction. SMS Group, in partnership with Baosteel Engineering and Technology Group Co., Ltd., worked closely to ensure the seamless integration of the VOD system into the existing plant infrastructure.
