Baosteel and Tenneco ink JV agreement

Baosteel Stainless Steel Branch and Tenneco Automotive China Co. (Shanghai) Ltd have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in a bid to speed up the localization of steel for auto exhaust system. Baosteel set foot in research and development of ferrite stainless steel for auto exhaust systems from 2007. Now it produces nine series, which are widely used in Volkswagen, General Motors, BMW and BYD. Tenneco began purchasing steel for exhaust pipe from Baosteel from 2007. In 2009, Baosteel delivered over 6000tns of steel to Tenneco.
