Bangladesh: coal-based power plant

Tata Group (India) has confirmed that it wants to set up a coal-based power plant at Fulbari or Barapukuria. Tata officials now visiting Bangladesh expressed this intention in a meeting with State Minister for Power Iqbal Hassan Mahmood at his secretariat office. According to its proposed US 2.5 billion investment package, Tata will set up a 1000MW power plant, a one-million ton capacity urea fertiliser factory in Chittagong, Bangladesh, a 1000MW power plant and a 2.4 million ton steel mill in Ishwardi, Bangladesh.
