Badger bags a contract in China

Badger Licensing LLC (Badger) has announced that Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) Chemical Co., Ltd. (Hengli) has selected Badger’s proprietary technologies for a 720 KTA grassroots ethylbenzene / styrene monomer (EB/SM) plant. This plant is being built in Changxing Island Economic Zone, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China. The contract includes technology license, process design and start-up services.

The new plant, one of the largest EB/SM plants in China, will utilize Badger’s proprietary EBMax™1 technology integrated with Badger’s proprietary styrene technology. Basic engineering design work has been completed and the plant is scheduled for mechanical completion and startup in 2019.

Styrene monomer, with a worldwide capacity of over 30 MMT per annum, is a precursor to the production of a variety of polymer derivatives, including polystyrene (PS), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR).
