Back-up power for US Navy

Stewart & Stevenson Services Inc. has announced its power generation division has received a USD 19.4 million contract for four 2000 Kw emergency diesel generator sets from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. The four generator sets powered by EMD diesel engines will provide emergency back-up power for the US Navy’s CNV 77 nuclear-powered Nimitz Class aircraft carrier. The first two units will be delivered in November 2002, the final two in July 2004.
