ATOFINA grassroots plant

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has announced that it is providing engineering design, global procurement, and construction management services to build a grassroots plant for ATOFINA Chemicals at their Beaumont, Texas, facility. Officials did not disclose the contract value. They estimate commercial production at the facility, which will be owned by Novus International, Inc. and operated by ATOFINA, will begin in the first quarter of 2005. This facility will produce methylthiopropionaldehyde (MMP), a raw material used to manufacture methionine, one of the building blocks of protein essential to animal growth and reproduction.
