Atescelik invests in wind towers

Atescelik will invest TRL 30 million for the construction of wind turbine towers in the western province of Izmir. The company, a producer of several devices for power plants and other industrial equipment, will build a 70,000sq/m factory by December 2010. Currently, Atescelik produces electrostatic precipitators, duct parts, casings, air heaters, bunkers, silos, cyclones and heavy steel structures for power plants and pressure equipment. They intend to expand and be capable of producing 100 wind towers per year, one quarter of Turkey’s present demand for wind towers which is between 300 and 400 towers per year. The company intends to export to markets in Greece, Romania and Bulgaria, taking advantage of the lack of tower producers at these locations.
