ArcelorMittal showcases products at major construc

ArcelorMittal has presented a raft of new, resource-efficient steel products for the construction sector, at the world’s leading trade show for architecture, materials and systems.

ArcelorMittal Construction and ArcelorMittal Commercial Long Germany has showcased a broad range of innovative new steel products at the BAU 2013 together with Bauforum Stahl (the Steel Building Forum). The theme for the joint stand is “Steel – Building in the Material Cycle”.

ArcelorMittal has exhibited a variety of products for floors and wall claddings, including the anti-graffiti coating Flontec. This special coating for steel cladding enables the removal of graffiti using just a sponge and water. The company’s Cofrastra – a composite floor – was also on display. Composite floors open up many different opportunities for architects, planners and installation companies, allowing for a high level of industrial prefabrication, flexibility in use, short building times and high load-carrying capacity.

Architects can design slender, elegant structures with high aesthetic appeal, as the steel support structure is integrated into the property’s appearance as a design feature.

With its HISTAR® steels, produced exclusively in Differdange, Luxembourg, ArcelorMittal is making a further contribution to innovation in resource-efficient materials. The HISTAR® sections – which are made of high-strength steel which enables material savings of up to 50% compared with conventional steel sections – combine high strength and toughness at low temperatures, and offer excellent weldability. Thanks to this enhanced performance, it is possible to reduce building costs, save weight and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
