Reuters has reported that Arcelor will announce measures designed to fend off the unsolicited bid from Mittal Steel citing a source close to the deal. An Arcelor spokeswoman later confirmed that the company would issue a statement on 4 April 2006 morning concerning Mittal Steel’s offer but declined to comment on the Reuters report.
