The chief executive of Anglo-Australian mining giant BHP Billiton has resigned over “irreconcilable differences” with the company’s board, BHP Billiton has announced. Brian Gilbertson will be replaced effective immediately by executive director Chip Goodyear. The company did not elaborate on the differences with Gilbertson.
Goodyear, currently chief development officer for the group, started with BHP in 1999 as chief financial officer.
