TAQA’s UK business has appointed AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, to undertake the engineering, procurement and construction of the modifications to the Tern oil production platform to accommodate a new subsea tie-back to the Cladhan field in the northern North Sea. AMEC will also provide commissioning support. The Cladhan development is the third field that TAQA has developed and their largest project to date. Cladhan is expected to produce over 17,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) initially, with first oil expected early 2015.
The contract award follows AMEC’s completion of the front-end engineering design (FEED) for the project and is part of a long-term engineering framework agreement with TAQA, which began in 2012. Work begins immediately and will run through to December 2014.
