AMEC awarded Slovakian contract

AMEC has been awarded a three year contract to provide waste treatment services to the Bohunice nuclear power plant in Slovakia.

The contract, the value of which has not been announced, will see AMEC apply its specialist technology to retrieve and treat the 600cbm of waste at the two Vodo-Vodyanoi Energetichesky Reactor 440 reactors at the plant, which ceased operation in 2008 and 2010, respectively. The contract will be executed from AMEC’s Slovakian office in Trnava which has developed this innovative technology.

Clive White, Vice President of AMEC’s Power & Process Europe business, said “We are delighted to be able to support Bohunice in this critical area of their decommissioning programme. The contract award is a recognition of the leading capabilities we have developed in waste management techniques. It builds on similar successful work we are executing in the Czech Republic and also expands our decommissioning support to Bohunice.
