Alstom receives nuclear order

Alstom has received an order from Electricité de France (EDF) to renovate the condenser of Unit 2 at the Dampierre 4 x 900 MW nuclear plant in France. Alstom’s scope of supply includes the design, manufacture and site installation of six condenser tube bundles, pre-assembled in modules offsite and six new low-pressure heaters. The site works include the dismantling of the old condenser, the installation of the new modules in the shell and the feedwater heaters in the condenser neck. In addition, the scope includes an option for the modification of the turbine bled steam pipes to reduce the pressure loss and improve the steam circulation in the condenser neck. The new design of the condenser will increase the performance of the plant by 12 MW. The site operations will start in January 2005.
