Allegheny announces price rises

Allegheny Ludlum, an Allegheny Technologies company will increase transaction prices by approximately 5–7% by reducing discounts three percentage points on 200, 300 and 400 series grades (except Type 409) of cold-rolled stainless steel sheet and strip products. This action is effective with shipments from starting on 2 September 2001 and is being implemented to offset higher manufacturing costs. In addition, Allegheny Ludlum will increase the published size extras for 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch continuous-mill-plate to $0.30 per pound. This change will also take effect with shipments on 2 September 2001. The current raw material surcharge formula remains in effect.
