Algerian state-run oil and gas firm Sonatrach has granted a consortium of Italian oilfield equipment maker Saipem and a French construction firm a USD 257 million oilfield development project. Under the contract, the consortium will set up a 80,000 barrels per day processing train and a oil collecting network at the Rhourde Ouled Dejmaa oilfield in Berkine basin. The work will be completed within 24 months. Sonatrach is running the field in partnership with Australia’s BHP Billiton and Italy’s Agip. The field has a potential output of 300 million barrels.
