AK Steel’s Zanesville Works wins safety awards

AK Steel’s Zanesville (Ohio) Works has been recognised for outstanding safety performance by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene. The recognition is part of a collaborative safety awareness programme established by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Safety Council and Chamber of Commerce.

Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel. “This achievement speaks volumes about our culture of safety at AK Steel. We congratulate all of our Zanesville Works employees for their outstanding safety performance.”

AK Steel’s Zanesville Works received the ‘100% Award for Safety’ for operating the entire year of 2014 without any lost-time injuries or illnesses. The plant also received a Special Award for Safety for operating 4,749,309 hours without a lost-time injury between 21 April 2003 and 31 December 2014.
