Acesita, a Brazil-based stainless producer and a subsidiary of Arcelor Mittal, plans to expand exports to Argentina and Chile by 30% this year. The company currently has a 60% share of Argentina’s cold rolled products market, and a 40% market share of that sector in Chile. Combined shipments to the two countries are about 20,000t/y. Products currently supplied are generally in widths of 1300mm, but Acesita says it will soon be able to supply plates with widths of 1524mm. Prices for stainless products exported to Chile and Argentina are said to be currently in a range of USD 4500-4700/t for austenitic grades.
