ABB receives wind power orders in Brazil

ABB has received orders worth USD 32 million to supply five new transformer substations and construct overhead transmission lines. This order will serve 14 wind farms with a generation capacity of 300MW. As per the contract placed by Renova Energia SA, ABB will design, engineer, supply, construct and commission the substations, in addition to training customer operators and maintenance staff. Delivery includes five turnkey 34.5/69kV substations including 12 33MVA step-up power transformers, air and gas insulated switchgear, distribution transformers and medium-voltage reclosers. The company will also provide and install 60km of 69kV overhead transmission lines, connecting a 290MW wind power plant to the national electricity grid currently under construction in Bahia. Completion of the project is scheduled 2012.
