Seatrium to build heavy lift vessel for Japan’s POC

Seatrium has revealed that its subsidiary has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Penta-Ocean Construction (POC) to build a heavy lift vessel to serve the Japanese offshore wind market.

Seatrium’s subsidiary signed a LoI with the Japanese company to carry out early engineering work for a 5,000-tonne fully-revolving heavy lift vessel.

Subject to the final investment decision by POC, the full EPC contract award is expected in the first quarter of 2025.

POC is a Japanese contractor with an interest in expanding its business in the offshore wind sector, according to Seatrium.

The company owns the first Japanese multipurpose SEP, CP-8001, equipped with an 800-tonne lifting capacity crane.
