Tubacex has been awarded a new strategic contract by Petrobras, encompassing the Sépia-2 and Atapu-2 offshore gas projects in Brazil. With a total value of €64.5 million, this agreement solidifies Tubacex’s standing as a premier supplier of solutions for the global gas extraction industry. Deliveries are set to commence in 2025 as each injector well reaches completion.
This contract covers over 80 km of CRA OCTG pipes, premium connections, and accessories for deepwater extraction at depths of 2,197 meters. The pipelines will connect to Petrobras’ FPSO P84 and P85 platforms, positioned approximately 250 km offshore. Alongside material supply, Tubacex will provide logistics, inventory management, on-site dispatch, repair services, and technical support during the installation phase.
Enhanced position in the Brazilian energy market
Tubacex’s role in Brazil’s offshore industry is further strengthened by this contract, particularly with Petrobras. Over the past three years, Tubacex has played an integral part in various complex projects, including the Buzios field, a key development in the pre-salt Santos Basin. Buzios is one of the world’s largest deepwater oil and gas reservoirs, featuring wells reaching depths of up to 6,000 meters, with a salt layer exceeding 700 meters. Currently producing 700,000 barrels per day, the field is expected to reach 2 million barrels daily by 2030, which will account for approximately 70% of Brazil’s total production.
Recognition of Safety and Operational Excellence
Tubacex’s unyielding commitment to safety and operational excellence has been pivotal in its longstanding relationship with Petrobras. Recently, Petrobras acknowledged Tubacex’s outstanding safety record, noting three consecutive years of operations without accidents, high-potential incidents, or safety anomalies. This recognition reinforces Tubacex’s position as a trusted and reliable partner in technically challenging projects.
