Akromold signs an agreement with Laker Energy and Bruce

One of Goderich’s best-kept secrets, Akromold has recently entered into a commercial agreement with Laker Energy Products and Bruce Power.

Laker Energy Products has signed USD144 M in advance manufacturing agreements for Bruce Power’s Major Component Replacement (MCR) Project. This project will ensure low-cost, carbon-free electricity for residents of Ontario until 2064.

In support of Laker Energy’s commitment to Bruce Power, Akromold was chosen as the supplier in the tri-county area. They will manufacture computer-machined components for Laker Energy and Bruce Power to further the advancement of the nuclear industry.

Akromold’s Plant 1 is comprised of highly skilled employees combined with state-of-the-art mills. These attributes made Akromold the preferred candidate to become a partner with Laker Energy and a supplier to Bruce Power.

With assistance from Laker Energy, the Plant 2 plant was certified to certain standards that now qualify Akromold Plant 2 to manufacture precision-machined components specifically for the nuclear industry.

According to Akromold, it is expected that Plant 2 will employ a total of up to 10 skilled tradespersons to manufacture the components under contract with Laker Energy for the Bruce Power MCR Project.
