GTT secures an order from SHI

French LNG containment giant GTT has secured a large order from South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries. Under the new contract, GTT will design the tanks of 14 174,000-cbm LNG carriers scheduled for delivery from Q4 of 2024 to Q3 of 2026. The tanks will be fitted with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system. GTT said that SHI is building twelve vessels for an American shipowner and two on behalf of an Asian owner.
SHI revealed this order worth about USD 3bn. This order is tied to the giant Qatari shipbuilding program. Global Meridian Holdings is behind the order for the 12 LNG carriers.
Moreover, a Korean consortium consisting of H-Line Shipping, Pan Ocean, and SK Shipping, placed the order for the two LNG carriers.
