PJSC “Turboatom” has recently signed a contract for modernization of the turbine condenser in Unit No1 of South-Ukrainian NPP. This will be the second condenser with stainless steel pipe systemsto be manufactured for this power plant. Shipment of the first condenser for Unit No 2 of South-Ukrainian NPP was completed this summer.
Completion of the manufacture and shipment of the condenser equipment is scheduled for the period from March to December 2017. Condensers of a “block-module” design with stainless steel tubes replace the condenser with copper-nickel alloy pipe system of turbine K-1000-60 / 1500 with capacity 1000 MW, which has been in operation at NPP Unit No1 since 1985. Modernization will allow the turbine unit to operate at full capacity when cooling water temperature changes and prolong unit life. The condenser consists of two rows each of three casings of 8 modules – a total of 48 modules. PJSC “Turboatom” will design, manufacture and supply the equipment.
South-Ukrainian NPP is a separate division of NNEGC “Energoatom” and is located on the shores of Southern Bug in the Mykolaiv region. During one year the power plant generates 17-18 billion. kWh of electricity, accounting for over 10% of total electricity production in the country and about a quarter of that generated by Ukrainian NPPs.
