Kola MMC revamps machinery and equipment

Kola MMC, a Norilsk Nickel subsidiary, purchased 78 units of different types of machinery and equipment for its subdivisions in H1 2015. Total cost of equipment purchased made up about EUR 4.14M. Replacement of fixed assets is of the top priority for the company since new machinery and equipment are critical for safe production process and higher efficiency.

The underground equipment fleet of Severny mine was revamped in the first half of the year. It received two new self-propelled drill-rigs for longhole drilling manufactured by Sandvik at the cost exceeding EUR 1.46M. Besides, over ten units of new pumping equipment were bought for that mine.

Considerable investments were allocated for Concentrator retrofitting. Currently, the crushing complex is under modernisation there. Modernisation is aimed at increase of marketable products output at Kola MMC from its own feed through higher metals recovery into concentrate. The company spent over EUR 1.38M for two new ball mills. Warman electric slurry pump will add to the fleet of the Concentrator’s equipment.

Metallurgical Shop received specialised electrical overhead crane and new motor-truck scales. Smelting Shop acquired Caterpillar soil compactor and two heat exchangers. New machinery and equipment are purchased for every processing and production-support areas of Kola MMC. In 2015, the company purpose-oriented spendings should amount EUR 23M in total.
