Guangdong Dapeng receives 600th LNG carrier

The arrival of LNG carrier ‘Dapeng Moon’ in October makes it the 600th carrier anchoring at Guangdong Dapeng LNG terminal amounting to the unloading of up to more than 40 million tons of LNG, marking a new milestone.

As China’s first LNG import project, Dapeng LNG has successfully pioneered the commercial and operation mode characterised by carrier sub-chartering management, signature of gas test contract as well as major repair of imported equipment initiated by the company itself, all of which have resulted in several technology gaps at home and abroad being bridged. Today, Dapeng LNG’s annual turnover capacity has soared from 3.7 million tons at the early stage of operation to 6.8 million tons. It directly serves the power plants with a total installed capacity of more than 8GW, with the quantity of downstream customers being increased from 11 to 19.

In 2013, Dapeng LNG contributed to 33% of China’s imported LNG, which reached 17 million tons.
