NewMarket Corporation’s Board of Directors elected Thomas E. Gottwald to serve as the chairman of the Board. Gottwald has served as a Director since 1994 and as president and CEO since March 2004. He succeeds Bruce C. Gottwald who is retiring from his duties as chairman of the Board. Bruce C. Gottwald will continue to serve as a member of the Board.

The Board also elected Charles B. Walker as the independent lead director. Walker has served as a director of the company since 1989 and is the former vice chairman and CFO of Albemarle Corporation.
