OMK launches new equipment for South Stream order

Trubodetal factory, based in Chelyabinsk, part of United Metallurgical Company, OMK CJSC, has launched new equipment for cold bending. The machine will produce bends with a diameter of 812.8mm and up to 40.1mm thick walls, made from K65 strength class steel. The items will be used at the South Stream pipeline, which runs from the Russkaya compressor station to the Black Sea.

The new 36-ton equipment can operate under any weather conditions, and is installed at an open-air site on the factory’s territory. The machine can bend pipes with diameters ranging from 530mm to 1020mm and up to 50mm thick walls. “Thanks to the new pipe bending machine, we can raise the production rate and the quality of products, as well as cut the time required for working on the large South Stream order. Also, this equipment opens new horizons for the factory, enabling it to fulfil orders from our other clients”, said Andrey Korotkov, Trubodetal’s managing director.
