Peter Schäfer quits Saarstahl Board

Dr Peter Schäfer has resigned from his position as a member of the Board of Management of Saarstahl in order to pursue new challenges outside the company. He has been with the company since 2007, first as chief representative, and from 2008, as a member of the Board of Management, where he was responsible for the sales division. While in this position, Dr Schäfer was able to overcome the challenges of the economic and financial crisis of 2009, together with his colleagues on the Board of Management, and to achieve the successful re-emergence of the company in the following years.

In future, the tasks of the chief sales officer will be carried out by Dr Klaus Richter. Dr Richter, who holds a doctorate in metallurgy, was appointed member of the Board of Management for five years by the Supervisory Board. He was the technical director of the LD-Steelmaking plant in Völklingen from 2001 to 2012 and was appointed chief representative for corporate strategy and planning last year. He has been a member of the Executive Board of ROGESA Roheisengesellschaft Saar and Zentralkokerei Saar since 2009.
