The Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) voted unanimously on a motion by Webcor/Obayashi joint venture, to select Bradken as the supplier for production of 304 steel castings made up of 75 unique geometries, worth approximately GBD 3.3M. These castings range in size from 3,600 lbs. to over 46,000 lbs. The contract will be manufactured and managed by the Bradken’s U.S.-based industrial products business.
The Transbay Transit Center Project is a transportation and housing project in downtown San Francisco that aims to develop a ‘Grand Central Station of the West’ in the heart of a new transit-friendly neighbourhood. The USD 4B project will replace the current Transbay Terminal with a modern regional transit hub at First and Mission streets in San Francisco. The hub will connect eight Bay Area counties and the State of California through 11 transit systems — AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Greyhound, Muni, SamTrans, WestCAT Lynx, Amtrak, Paratransit and future High Speed Rail from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim.
“Our involvement with this project started in 2010. We extended every effort to support the design and contractual objectives sought by the TJPA and Webcor/Obayashi joint venture as we bid for this project,” says Wayne Braun, Bradken’s Industrial Products Business Development Director.
