Bechtel wins LNG facility FEED contract

Pacific NorthWest LNG has selected Bechtel Corporation to perform the front-end engineering and design (FEED) for a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in British Columbia, Canada. The FEED covers the gas liquefaction plant, LNG storage tanks and marine infrastructure that will allow for gas exports. The facility will be located on Lelu Island within the District of Port Edward on land administered by the Prince Rupert Port Authority.

“Bechtel brings extensive global experience in the LNG market to Pacific NorthWest LNG,” said Mr Jack Futcher, President of Bechtel’s Oil, Gas and Chemicals business unit. “We have worked in Canada for more than 40 years and will apply our local knowledge to design and build a world-class facility that will bring economic and social benefits to the local community, the province and the country.”

Bechtel is a prominent player in the global LNG industry. The company is responsible for 40% of LNG liquefaction capacity under construction today, including four projects in Australia and the first LNG export facility in the United States.
