Fluor appoints new VP of Corporate Affairs

Fluor Corporation (FLR) announced that Lee C. Tashjian, vice president, Corporate Affairs, will retire from the company effective 29 June 2012. Tashjian will be succeeded by R. Clifton Webb, vice president of corporate communications for Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). SRNS is a joint venture managed by Fluor that oversees operations at the Savannah River site on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy. Webb will assume his new responsibilities effective 1 June 2012.

In leading the Corporate Affairs function, Tashjian is credited with advancing the company’s role in the global anti-corruption movement through his leadership in the World Economic Forum’s Partnering Against Corruption Initiative and his co-chairmanship of the B20/G20 working group on corruption; enhancing employee communications; raising the company’s external profile in the news media; revamping the company’s Fluor.com website; focusing the company’s corporate brand; globalizing Fluor’s philanthropic and community service activities; and developing and leading the execution of the company’s Executive Management Team meetings.

In joining Fluor, Webb brings more than 35 years of experience in government and public affairs roles. Prior to joining SRNS, he held senior-level roles in DuPont where he most recently served as vice president, Government Affairs. Webb also served DuPont as director of Public Affairs, and public affairs manager of the company’s Mid-Atlantic region. Webb began his career with the U.S. Department of Energy – Savannah River Operations, where he later became deputy director of External Affairs. Webb is a recipient of DuPont’s Corporate Marketing Excellence Award and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Silver Medal for Meritorious Service. He is Six Sigma certified.
