Nordex wins 25MW Bavaria deal

Nordex has won an order for its new N117/2400 onshore machine from the developers of Bavaria’s biggest wind farm. The company has received a contract from VenSol Neue Energien GmbH and Honold GmbH Windkraftanlagen for the delivery of ten turbines for the Zöschingen wind farm.

Located in the north-west of the shire of Dillingen and scheduled for completion by the end of the year, the planned wind farm project will have an installed capacity of 24 MW, making it the largest wind farm in Bavaria.

Nordex expects to be able to place this project on its books as a firm order in the 3rd quarter of 2012.

With rotor blades measuring almost 60 metres in length, the N117/2014 is to go into series production in summer 2012 and is one of the most efficient turbines for locations characterised by light wind speeds. As the wind farm is located in a forest, Nordex will be supplying a hub height of 120 metres, thus optimising the energy yield of the turbines.

The ten 2.4MW turbines will be generating sufficient energy to supply around 15,000 homes – an equivalent to around one third of power consumption in the entire shire.
