Laatsch to lead DNV’s wind energy office

DNV has appointed Matthias Laatsch to lead the company’s wind energy office in Hamburg. The growing team in Hamburg is made up of dedicated wind energy experts who are able to draw on DNV’s 25 years of experience in serving the global wind energy industry. They will work alongside DNV’s wind team based in Copenhagen, Denmark and London, UK, in addition to the support they will receive from DNV’s marine survey team, located in Hamburg and Oslo. Laatsch brings a substantial amount of experience and knowledge of the German offshore wind project certification market. He has extensive professional experience in complementary sectors including bridge design and engineering, hydraulic steel works and large infrastructure projects. With a background in civil engineering, Laatsch joined the offshore wind industry six years ago, beginning his offshore career supervising the building of the FINO 1 research platform. He led the full scope of project certification in accordance with the German BSH requirements for Germany’s first offshore wind farm, Alpha Ventus. Under his supervision, the project successfully obtained the first project certificate for a German offshore wind farm.
