ABB receives photovoltaic plant order

ABB has received a USD 50 million order from Phenix Renewables to deliver a 24MW photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant in Lazio, Italy. Once connected to the grid, the Phenix solar plant will provide up to 35GWh of electricity each year, avoiding the generation of over 25,000 tons of CO2 emissions. As per the order, ABB will be responsible for the design, engineering, erection, civil works and commissioning of the plant. Their modular EBoP (electrical balance of plant) concept will allow fast track execution within 4 months. The 24.2MW plant will be based on single-axis trackers that will follow the position of the sun to situate PV panels at the best angle for optimal energy production. ABB will also construct a 150kV substation complete with the latest monitoring and control system to facilitate consistent and efficient integration of the electrical power generated by the solar panels into the grid. REC (Renewable Energy Corporation) will supply the PV panels
