Russia will start work on two new reactors at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China next year, according to Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko. Russian nuclear power equipment and service exporter Atomstroyexport and its Chinese partner, the Jiangsu Nuclear Power, signed an agreement in March 2010 to develop two VVER-1000 reactors with a power output of 1000MW. Russia will receive EUR 1.3billion to build the second stage of the Tianwan nuclear power plant from China. The first two reactors at the Tianwan nuclear power plant began operations in 2007.
