BuBi®-pipe project

BUTTING has booked a BuBi®-pipe project for a pipeline on the seabed. With a volume of over 17km of BuBi®-pipes, the replacement delivery for a project of a multinational oil and gas company in Asia Pacific counts among the largest orders in BUTTING’s history. In order to arrange in detail the high requirements specific to the project, a customer visit by representatives of the oil and gas company to the BUTTING office took place before the start of production. Besides the 17.000m BuBi®-pipes 323.9mm x (14.3 + 2.5) mm and 317.5mm x (11.1 + 2.5) mm wall, the delivery also includes 600m metallurgically clad pipes and over 30 elbows with the same diameters. The delivery of the manufactured materials will be carried out by a container ship in several stages, so that a continuous supply of pipes and elbows, adapted to the end-user’s requirements, is assured. Alloy 825 was chosen as the material for the internal pipe. It is suitable for highly varied use, but especially to natural gas and oil extraction. A specially equipped ship will therefore also be used in the laying of these pipes into the sea of the coast of Malaysia.
