Schmidt + Clemens defies sharp fall in sales

Lindlar (Germany)-based producer of special steels Schmidt + Clemens (S+C) has presented its balance sheet for the last cyear. Despite a drop in sales, S+C nevertheless achieved a highly satisfactory level of profit. Sales of the group of companies fell in the 2009 financial year from EUR 369 million to EUR 228 million. At its operating site in Germany, S+C recorded sales of EUR 126 million (in 2008: EUR 226 million). The Schmidt + Clemens Group founded two new companies in the year under review: S+C Extrusion Tooling Solutions GmbH (ETS) based in Lindlar, and Schmidt + Clemens Saudi Arabia Ltd. ETS specializes in the production of tools and the provision of services for the extrusion industry, while in Saudi-Arabia, S+C will in future manufacture products for the petrochemical industry.
