Aerial platform made of Ruukki steel

Ruukki’s high-strength Optim 650 MC and Optim 900 steels are an integral part of the world’s highest truck-mounted aerial platform that reaches up to a height of 112m. The aerial platforms are made by Bronto Skylift, a global market player in truck-mounted hydraulic platforms. Bronto Skylift designs and manufactures platforms meant for rescue, fire fighting and any high-rise construction and maintenance work. The aerial lift that reaches higher than earlier lifts is the product of a new design that also sets new demands on the steel used for it. The higher an aerial lift needs to reach, the more important lightness becomes. Use of Ruukki’s high-strength Optim steels has reduced the specific weight of the device itself. Bronto Skylift’s world’s highest aerial platform was unveiled at the Bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany on 19-25 April 2010.
