SMR’s Annual Stainless Steel Producer Ranking has reported that China-based Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Tisco) has become the biggest stainless steel maker in 2009 and that it has increased its stainless steel flat production from 1.6 million tons to 2.16 million tons. Posco holds second position and Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) took the 3rd. ThyssenKrupp Stainless ranked 1st in 2008, but fell back to 4th position in 2009 and Acerinox Group fell from 3rd to 5th position in 2009. ArcelorMittal even dropped out of the top 5 ranking in 2009.
