On 27 July 2009, the signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement on Cooperative Development of the Chenzhou Nuclear Power Station between China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) (Beijing) and the Municipal Government of Chenzhou was held in Beijing. LI Jinying, Director of the Planning Department of CNNC and XIANG Lili, Mayor of Chenzhou City signed the Agreement on behalf of both parties. The newly proposed project will be furnished with four 1000MW nuclear power units in phases. According to the Agreement, both parties will jointly setup a project company led by CNNC to build the project. CNNC began discussions with the Municipal Government of Chenzhou regarding the development of the nuclear power project three years ago. In July 2006, KANG Rixin, General Manager of CNNC, reached a common understanding with a delegation from the Municipal Government of Chenzhou, and decided to kick off the pre-stage preparation for the project. The signing of the Agreement marks that the pre-stage preparation for the project is officially kicked off.
