Cuddalore thermal project approved

The Cuddalore Power Corp.’s (CPC) 1320MW Cuddalore thermal power project has received Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission’s clearance. CPC, part of the BGR Group, which is to set up the INR 6000 crore project, envisages establishment of a power plant, exclusive coal jetty to handle imported coal and a captive desalination plant. The project, spread over 1000 acres is to come up at the Thyagavalli and Kudikadu villages in the Cuddalore district. The commission has approved a capital cost of INR 6004 crore at INR 4.55 crore an MW. The project is to be executed in 5 years and the commission has directed the company to achieve financial closure within 12 months.
