Corus Tubes will manufacture and deliver line pipe for one of the world’s deepest pipelines, the Perdido Norte project in the Gulf of Mexico. The company has been contracted by Williams to deliver 312km of uncoated steel line pipe for use in ultra deepwater depths ranging from 1066m to 2529m with a rugged seabed terrain. The 18in pipe will be manufactured at the Corus Tubes Mills at Hartlepool in the UK, using the world’s strongest Crimp and O press combination. The process, used in conjunction with Corus Tubes’ expansion system, enables the production of heavy wall pipes with excellent dimensional tolerances and collapse resistance capabilities, suitable to the extreme conditions of ultra deep waters.
