Canada: sulphur recovery unit

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has announced that their Canadian subsidiary company has received a contract from North West Upgrading Inc. to prepare a process design package for a sulphur recovery unit at North West Upgrading’s proposed upgrader. The Upgrader is located in Sturgeon County, just north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The process design package applies Jacobs’ proprietary Superclaus(R) and Shell Liquid Sulphur Degassing technologies, achieving a minimum sulphur recovery of 98.8%. The Superclaus(R) unit produces molten elemental sulphur by oxidizing acid gas feed streams (H2S and CO2) from various high-and low-pressure sources. The first phase of North West Upgrading’s three phase project will ultimately process 150,000bpd of bitumen.
